FAQs

Quick answers to common questions and helpful tips for getting your website

How long does it take to build my website?

Once you have ALL your content ready, I get straight to work. Hosting is sorted — I can add you to my plan or help you set up your own. Two-phase process: Phase 1 - Get everything prepared (your timeline), Phase 2 - Website build & launch. Complete my questionnaire to see exactly what you need to gather first!

📋

What do I need to provide?

You need ALL your text content, photos, and logo ready BEFORE I start building. I have a detailed questionnaire that shows you exactly what information to prepare. Having everything ready upfront keeps the build moving smoothly and efficiently.

💳

What payment methods do you accept?

All payments are processed securely. For the build: Pay via Stripe (card - 50/50 split available) or Klarna (interest-free). For the 12-month plan: Spread the total via GoCardless Direct Debit (£61/£74/£88/month depending on package). For care plan: £30/month via GoCardless. Option 1: Pay setup fee upfront (Stripe/Klarna), then £30/month care plan (GoCardless). Option 2 (Most Popular): Spread total cost over 12 months (GoCardless) — no big upfront payment!

⏱️

How long does SEO take to show results?

Good SEO is a long-term investment. You should expect to see meaningful results within 3-6 months. This is completely normal - Google needs time to crawl your site, index your content, and evaluate how well you rank for relevant keywords. I'll set up all the SEO best practices from day one, but patience is crucial for sustainable, long-lasting growth. Quality results built properly will continue bringing you customers for years to come.

🤖

What is AEO and why does it matter?

AEO stands for Answer Engine Optimisation — getting your business named directly by AI tools like ChatGPT, Google AI Overviews, and Perplexity when people ask questions in your industry. While SEO gets you found on Google, AEO gets you recommended by AI. Every JDWebDesigns website is built with AEO signals from day one — schema markup, FAQ sections, and an llms.txt file — so you're visible in both traditional search and AI-powered answers. 🔒

Is my payment information secure?

Absolutely! I use Stripe, a trusted payment processor that handles all transactions with bank-level encryption. Your payment details are fully encrypted and I never see your card information.

✏️

What if I need changes during the build?

Changes are included! I'll show you the design as we go, and you can request adjustments until you're happy. Your initial payment covers revisions during development.

📱

Will my website work on mobile phones?

Absolutely! All websites are mobile-friendly as standard. Most of your customers will view your site on their phones, so this is essential and included in every package.

🌐

Do you handle domain registration and hosting?

Yes! I can host your site on my plan — no accounts to set up, nothing to figure out, it just works. Or if you'd prefer your own hosting for complete control, I'll guide you through it. No technical knowledge needed either way!

📏

Do I own the website after it's built?

Yes! Once you've paid in full, the website is completely yours.

🔧

How do I update my website after launch?

You have three options: make changes yourself (free if you're comfortable with basic edits), pay for one-off updates (pricing varies by complexity), or subscribe to my £30/month minor updates service where you simply message me and I'll handle everything, typically within 24-48 hours. Common minor updates include: opening hours, photos, prices, and services.

🗺️

Are you available across all of Scotland?

Yes! JDWebDesigns serves small businesses across all of Scotland — Peebles, Scottish Borders, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Aberdeen, Dundee, Inverness, Perth, Stirling, and everywhere in between. All work is done remotely so location is never a barrier.

🏪

What types of businesses do you work with?

All types of small businesses — tradespeople (plumbers, electricians, builders, plasterers), shops, restaurants and cafés, hair and beauty salons, gardeners and landscapers, service providers, and sole traders. If you're a small business in Scotland, I can build your website.

🚫

Why not just use Wix or Squarespace?

DIY builders come with ongoing monthly fees, are slower (bad for SEO), look generic, and are harder for Google & AI tools to rank highly. JDWebDesigns builds custom-coded sites that are faster, more unique, fully optimised for SEO & AEO — and once you pay the one-off fee, there's no monthly platform cost.

📅

What is the Monthly Care Plan?

The Monthly Care Plan is £30/month and covers: hosting on my plan (you don't need to arrange your own), up to 5 content updates per month, regular health checks, and priority support. Without it, you'll need to find and manage your own hosting. Cancel anytime with 30 days’ notice. Ideal for businesses who want peace of mind and zero technical hassle.

🖼️

Can I see examples of your work before committing?

Yes! Visit the Portfolio page to see built sites and live package demos. You can preview exactly what a Standard, Enhanced, and Professional site looks like before making any commitment or payment.

🛒

Do you build e-commerce or online shop websites?

JDWebDesigns specialises in professional brochure-style business websites. For complex e-commerce setups with shopping carts, inventory, and payment gateways, get in touch to discuss your requirements — I can advise on the best approach for your business.

What makes JDWebDesigns different?

And with 12 years in the trades, Jason understands your business in a way most web designers simply don't.

💬

How do I contact JDWebDesigns?
